The Baldpate Inn, now a bed and breakfast, displays a collection of more than 20,000 keys.

Founded in 1917 by the Mace family, it was named for the mystery novel “Seven Keys to Baldpate” by Earl Derr Biggers, whose story line prompted visitors to bring keys as gifts for the owners when they visited the mountain lodge.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture from the early 20th Century American Movements.
