Crawford State Park
Location: Delta County, southeast of Delta
Crawford State Park lies just east of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and has similarly dramatic scenery.
Crawford’s lake invites fishing, boating, hiking and water sports, but limits boating capacity to 60 boats if 20 are water-skiing and 40 slow trollers for fishing. Jet-Skis are also permitted, and a swimming beach is open in the summer.
More than 60 campsites are available at Iron Creek and Clear Fork campgrounds, with recently upgraded campground amenities.
For anglers, Crawford offers excellent perch and crappie fishing, and also lunker channel catfish, largemouth bass, northern pike or rainbow trout.
In cold weather, ice fishing, ice-skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are offered. Winter camping is allowed in Clear Fork campground, which is plowed in winter but has limited amenities.
