The Delta County Historical Society Museum has a variety of historical artifacts focused on pioneer life, but the top attraction is a collection of dinosaur bones donated by Vivian Jones and her husband, Daniel, who collected them from Dry Mesa in the Uncompahgre National Forest southwest of Delta.

Vivian Jones was a rockbound from Delta who discovered the first bones of the Supersaurus and Torvosaurus from Dry Mesa in the early 1970s. Brigham Young University then excavated 4,000 bones from 17 different dinosaurs from the Dry Mesa Quarry, which has since been closed.

The Supersaurus and Torvosaurus were named and described as new dinosaurs by BYU paleontologist James Jensen based on the bones found at Dry Mesa.

Another museum highlight is a collection of butterflies from around the world.

The museum is housed in an old firehouse.
