The 283-foot Fish Creek Falls is a popular attraction just a short hike from downtown Steamboat Springs.
An easy half-mile paved trail will reward hikers with a view of the waterfall and is wheelchair-accessible.
A steeper dirt path leads downward to the base of the falls, and a longer, steeper, 6-mile hike goes uphill to another waterfall, Long Lake and the Continental Divide Trail.
Head up Third Street to Fish Creek Falls Road to reach the trailhead in the Fish Creek Falls Recreation Area, managed by the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests.
The trails are open year-round, with snow shoeing and ice hiking in the winter.
A parking fee is charged.
