The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo meanders over a 32-acre space and provides a pleasant waterfront for strolling or sitting, as well as renting paddleboats. Guided boat tours are also available.
After the Great Flood of 1921, the river was diverted from the downtown area. The Riverwalk has returned the waterfront to its historic location, creating an urban feeling. Statues, sculptures, bronze animals, fountains, plants and hand-carved benches line the waterway.
At the east end of the Riverwalk is the Boettcher Outdoor Education Center, a covered outdoor amphitheater. Pike Plaza, filled with graphics illustrating Zebulon Pike’s journey through Southern Colorado, leads into the Education Center.
