The University of Northern Colorado was established in 1889 as the State Normal School of Colorado to train teachers.

Today, UNC maintains a strong presence in teacher education and offers more than 100 undergraduate programs and 100 graduate programs to more than 12,000 students.

A Visitors Center is located on the central campus at 1862 10th Ave., near the corner of 10th Avenue and 19th Street. Tours are available.
