Washington Park is a popular urban park for runners, walkers, bicyclists, lawn bowlers and dog walkers and for volleyball, horseshoe, basketball and tennis players.

The city-owned park includes two large lakes, Smith and Grasmere, plus a Lily Pond. Smith Lake has a boathouse with paddleboat rentals, and there is a bathhouse nearby that hosts special events.

One of the park’s highlights is a replica of Martha Washington’s garden from the first president’s estate at Mount Vernon, Va.
