A self-guided tour takes visitors through a series of “neighborhoods” in the Yampa River Botanic Park, which glorifies high-altitude gardening.
More than 60 individual gardens are managed by citizens and organizations, and no city funds are used to operate the lovely spot, which is open from May through October.
No admission fee is charged. The park is located on the Yampa River Core Trail, which runs along the river west of U.S. 40
The park’s Rainbow Neighborhood has gardens that each hold flowers of the same color, and its Hummingbird Neighborhood includes plants where the birds and butterflies feed and lay their eggs.
