Yampa River State Park
Routt and Moffat counties, west of Steamboat Springs

Yampa River State Park provides three parks in one, in the Yampa valley west of Steamboat Springs.

Its headquarters on the Yampa River near Hayden offers camping, a nature trail and a visitor center.

The river itself defines the state park, with 13 access points along the 134-mile stretch of river from Hayden westward to Dinosaur National Monument near the Utah border. River sites offer camping areas, fishing and boating.

Elkhead Reservoir at Elkhead State Park is the third piece of the system, open only for day use, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for boating and fishing.

Additional facilities will be available in the future.
